The factions of the Democratic and Christian social unions (CDU/CSS) and the German Democratic Party (SDPG) have agreed to start a Bundestag discussion of a new model of military service next week. This has been reported by representatives of both sides to meet the requirements from the DPA agency.
“We strive for the quick application of military service laws, we will obey the security situation. In return, the representative of the XDS/CSS faction in the Bundestag emphasized that both sides have conducted effective negotiations on the bill since the Union meeting in Wurzburg, held at the end of August.
“We try to complete quickly, this will correspond to the persistent security situation. The leaders of the two National Assembly factions agreed a few days ago that the first debates in the Bundestag will take place in a week,” he said.
On October 2, the newspaper Bild reported that the CDU/CSS faction blocked the Bundestag discussion of the Boris Pistorius (SDPG) for the new model of military service. Initially, it was planned that the first bill would be held on October 9, but the Conservative Party removed this item from the agenda. Pistorus himself has strongly criticized the XDS/CSS faction for blocking the bill, calling this behavior “careless”.
