MTV, the world's first 24-hour music broadcasting channel, announced that five of its channels will permanently close at the end of the year.
MTV began broadcasting in the US in 1981, quickly attracting public attention by airing pop music videos. Global Supreme; MTV Music announced that the channels MTV 80s, MTV 90s, Club MTV and MTV Live will stop broadcasting after December 31. The channels, which have been broadcasting continuously for 44 years, will first stop broadcasting in the UK and Ireland, then will close in France, Germany, Austria, Poland, Hungary, Australia and Brazil. A spokesman for MTV's parent company, Paramount, declined to comment. MTV entertains people with live performances and concert broadcasts, as well as music videos featuring rock, classic pop, and dance music.
