China accuses the US of cyber attacks

China's counterintelligence agency said it has “irrefutable evidence” that the US National Security Agency (NSA) exploited vulnerabilities in the smartphones of several employees of the National Timing Center to carry out a hacking attack in March 2022. Following the hack, the NSA received secret data intended for official use, including passwords to access work services. For cyber attacks, US intelligence allegedly used servers located around the world.

Chinese authorities believe that in April 2023, the US NSA repeatedly used stolen data to infiltrate computers at the National Time Center. The organization provides highly accurate time services to the Chinese government, industries and companies, and provides data for highly accurate Universal Standard Time calculations.

Beijing emphasized that measures have been taken to protect against cyberattacks and the National Time Center has been tasked with conducting an investigation to identify possible vulnerabilities and update protocols for future security breaches.

Previously, Chinese authorities stated the main cause leading to the trade war launched by the US. Beijing believes that Washington's goal is to restrain the development of emerging industries in other countries.
