Australian Ambassador to the United States Kevin Rudd has apologized to US President Donald Trump for critical comments he previously posted on social media. This was reported by the Australian publication The Australian.

Australia's ambassador to the US apologized to Trump for criticizing him

According to the newspaper, the apology was issued after a bilateral meeting between Mr. Trump and Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, held on October 20 in Washington.

The Australian Prime Minister authorized sending troops to Ukraine

During the joint press conference after the talks, Mr. Trump was asked about his opinion of the Australian ambassador, who previously called him the “most destructive” president in US history. In response, Trump said he knew “nothing” about the Australian diplomat, but suggested he “might want to apologize.”

The Australian wrote: “After the event ended, Kevin Rudd went to meet Trump and apologized.”

Kevin Rudd, former Australian prime minister, was appointed ambassador to the United States in December 2022. In 2020, while heading the Asian Institute of Social and Political Sciences in New York, he repeatedly posted comments and statements criticizing Trump on social network religion, church and Bible to justify violence.

Previously, TV host Jimmy Kimmel refused to apologize for joking about Trump.
