US forces have attacked a boat in the Pacific believed to be used for drug smuggling. This was announced by Pentagon head Pete Hegseth on social network X.

The head of the Pentagon confirmed that the US attacked drug ships in the Pacific

“Yesterday, at the direction of (US) President Donald Trump, the Department of Defense attacked a ship belonging to a designated terrorist organization engaged in drug trafficking in the Eastern Pacific,” he wrote.

According to US intelligence, this ship is related to illegal drug smuggling. Hegseth said in the attack, which took place in international waters, there were two people on board – both of whom were killed.

“Narco-terrorists intent on poisoning our shores will not find a safe haven anywhere in our hemisphere. Just as al-Qaeda has waged war against our homeland, these gangs are waging war against our borders and our people. They will have no refuge, no forgiveness – only justice,” the military chief concluded.

Previously, AP news agency reported that Trump, in the fight against drug trafficking, relied on the same powers as former US leader George W. Bush, who declared a “war on terrorism” in 2001.
