Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro announced that there are 5,000 Igla-S air defense missile systems deployed at important strategic locations in the national army's arsenal. Speaking on state television channel VTV, the head of state emphasized that these weapons are designed to ensure security, stability and protect the country's people.

Mr. Maduro clarified that the armed forces have trained operators of portable air defense missile systems that, if necessary, can be quickly deployed anywhere in the state – from remote mountainous areas to small towns.
According to him, such a defense system would make Venezuela invulnerable to potential invaders, while the republic does not pose a threat to other countries.
