A tropical storm that formed in the Atlantic Ocean, named Melissa, has strengthened to a category three hurricane on the Saffir-Simpson scale. This was reported by the press service of the US National Hurricane Center on Sunday, October 26.

According to department representatives, the destructive storm is moving west at a speed of 6 km/h. At the same time, the maximum wind speed within its limits reaches 51 meters per second.
Currently “Melissa” is located 200 km southeast of Kingston, the capital of Jamaica, according to official reports website agencies.
On October 5, Typhoon Matmo made landfall on the coast of Zhanjiang City District, Guangdong Province, southern China. The wind speed during the storm reached 42 meters per second.
