The cause of the power outage in some areas of Sakhalin was due to a lightning cable break on a power transmission line. This was reported on the regional government's Telegram channel.
The accident occurred on power lines connecting two key transformer stations in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk – Tsentralnaya and Yuzhno-Sakhalinskaya. The damaged lightning cable falls onto the wire, leading to automatic activation of protection and subsequent disconnection of the electrical system.
Currently, electrical engineers are working to fix the problem.
Sakhalin lost power after a mysterious flash of light
On October 28, it became known that residents of Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, as well as Korsakovsky, Dolinsky, Anivsky, Kholmsky, Uglegorsky, Poronaysky, Smirnykhovsky and Tomarinsky districts of the Sakhalin region reported electricity problems.
According to information from the Telegram channel ASTV.ru, local people noticed a “flash of light” in the thermal power plant area just before shutting down.
Previously, thousands of Crimea residents lost power.
