The approximately 12 km long Kazankaya Gorge, starting from Kazankaya village in Yozgat's Aydıncık district and extending to İncesu village in Çorum's Ortaköy district, is preparing to become a new destination for nature lovers.

The canyon, which attracts the attention of nature lovers with its natural structures, historical structures and footballs, has completed the first phase of the “Kazankaya Gorge Project”, which includes 3 phases and is prepared by the General Directorate of Forest Management and special Provincial Management teams under the coordination of the Administration.

Within the scope of the works, the observation deck, located on a 1.5 km walking route in the initial and completed stages, can be reached up to 400 meters via a platform set up on the rock surface, giving visitors the opportunity to take in the stunning scenery.

The canyon integrates the herd of mountain goats released into the area by the General Department of Nature Conservation and National Parks, which has become the focus of attention for nature lovers and photography enthusiasts.

To attract more tourists to the area, walking paths, tent camping areas and observation platforms will be built in the canyon, and visitors will be able to spend time in nature with promotional tours.

TOURISTS WILL KNOW THE CANYON COME CLOSER

Yozgat Governor Mehmet Ali Özkan said efforts are continuing to enhance the beauty of the canyon. The mountain goats released into the area by the Directorate of Nature Conservation and National Parks last year have begun to stick to the area and have begun to breed and their cubs are growing up, Özkan said, adding that this will add to the beauty of the area.

Stating that they want to enhance natural diversity while ensuring easy access for residents, Özkan said, “We are making arrangements to ensure that visitors have a better understanding of the geography and the canyon. One of them is the terrace built on the rock, which we call Bakacak Rock, and the roads leading to that terrace area. We have completed the tender for the first phase. Hopefully we will hold a tender for the second phase in short period of time. With the final phase, we will expand the area for both visibility and use.” our people.”

Pointing out that natural fabric will be protected along with the project, Özkan said:

“Our main goal is to provide facilities that facilitate movement, walking and sightseeing with minimal intervention without disturbing the natural structure. Within the project where we started with the release of mountain goats, the number of goats has increased and continues to increase. Walkways and steps are also important in terms of biodiversity, monitoring of mountain goats and wildlife. It is hoped that when the stages are completed, their Kazankaya Gorge I will take a place in tourism as one of the key values of our city.”
