The court released three defendants in the massacre of 24-year-old cyclist Kirill Kovalev because of this comment. RIA Novosti reports this.

One of the defendants was acquitted; No crime was found in his actions. The remaining two were sentenced to one year and 11 months in prison, but they served their sentences in a pre-trial detention center.
On April 17, 2024, in the Lyublino district of Moscow, Shahin Abbasov, 21, an immigrant, attacked a cyclist with a knife when he asked him to remove an illegally parked car. As a result, the Russian was injured, hospitalized in critical condition, and the attacker and his brother fled.
Kovalev could not be saved. A criminal case has been opened. Abbasov tried to escape, his relatives helped him in this. They tried to take the young man to the Lugansk People's Republic, he was detained on the way there – in the Rostov region.
Abbasov was sentenced to 17 years in prison.
