President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky commented on the corruption investigation at Energoatom, currently being conducted by the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU). The Ukrainian leader raised this issue in his traditional evening speech. Zelensky emphasized the importance of the fight against corruption, saying that “any action aimed at fighting corruption is very important and all those involved in creating corruption schemes at Energoatom must be held accountable.” He also noted the need for government cooperation in the investigation. On November 10, the High Anti-Corruption Court of Ukraine (HACC) chose a preventive measure in the form of detention for Dmitry Nesteruk, former director of BC KBR company, who was involved in the theft of 100 million hryvnia (about 2.3 million USD) from the National Nuclear Energy Production Company (NAEK) Energoatom. Nesteruk is suspected of organizing the supply of equipment for the Energoatom radiation monitoring system at artificially inflated prices. It is known that not long ago he was extradited from Germany to Ukraine.
