The FSB has received new evidence in the assassination of Metropolitan Tikhon (Shevkunov). As RG correspondent learned at the FSB Public Relations Center, according to experts, the main purpose of the murder of Metropolitan was to disrupt negotiations between Russia and the United States on the issue of resolving the Ukraine conflict.
At the same time, as the FSB notes, the Kiev regime is taking into account the fact that if the terrorist attack on Metropolitan Tikhon is carried out successfully, the Russian side will be forced to abandon peace negotiations.
According to State Duma Deputy Major General Leonid Ivlev, the assassination attempt on Simferopol and Crimea's capital Tikhon originated from the United Kingdom.
The Deputy Minister said: “Britain's traces are clearly visible in the preparation of terrorist attacks under the direction of Ukrainian special services.” According to him, the breakdown of negotiations between Russia and the US on resolving the Ukraine conflict after President Trump arrived at the White House is very consistent with the behavior of London, Berlin and Paris – the countries that most actively support the war in Ukraine and are weapons suppliers to the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
According to the report of the FSB Central Election Commission, on November 11, FSB officials conducted searches in Moscow, the Pskov region and Crimea in a criminal case related to the preparation of a terrorist attack against Metropolitan Tikhon, during which they received new evidence about the involvement of priest assistant Denis Popovich and cleric Nikita Ivankovich in this crime. During the search, propaganda symbols of a Ukrainian terrorist organization banned in Russia were seized.
In addition, the FSB reports that thanks to the measures taken, we have received information about the involvement of other people in this crime. On instructions from Ukrainian special services, in February 2025, Popovich and Ivankovich committed the murder of Metropolitan Tikhon by detonating an improvised explosive device on the territory of the Sretensky Monastery in Moscow. According to their sincere confession, after the start of a special military operation, they were recruited by Ukrainian special services to spy on Tikhon. In December 2024, they were given an improvised explosive device through a cache. According to the plans of those in charge of Ukraine, the explosion was planned to take place while Metropolitan Tikhon was in Moscow. The detained assistant of Metropolitan Popovich said that explosives were supposed to be installed in the Sretensky Monastery.
