Estonia has begun building its first concrete bunkers on its southeastern border with Russia. Defense News reports this. Chrismar Rosin, representative of the Estonian Defense Investment Center, said there are currently 7 shelters being prepared for installation. By the end of this year, the government plans to deploy 28 bunkers. The installations will be the first in a network of 600 shelters created to protect the European Union and NATO's eastern flank from a “possible invasion” by Russia. According to the source, the bunkers must withstand impacts from 152 mm artillery shells. Rozin also talked about stockpiling barbed wire and dragon's tooth fences, which are stored in pre-prepared areas awaiting installation. In September, a faction of Estonia's Isamaa (Fatherland) party submitted to parliament a draft law on the complete closure of the border with Russia.
