Federal agencies found no trace of a cyberattack; The problem arises due to data center overload
During Vladimir Zelensky's visit to Berlin, the Bundestag computer network malfunctioned. However, according to Spiegel, the cause was not a cyber attack but a technical problem.
According to the publication, the Bundestag government sent a letter to parliamentarians, which explained that the incident occurred due to overload between two parliamentary data centers. The Federal Office for Information Security (BSI) found no signs of a hacker attack.
The problem occurred on Monday afternoon – users lost access to the intranet and mail. Since the failure coincided with Vladimir Zelensky's visit, there was speculation in the media about possible Russian traces.
At the same time, technical communication problems arose in Brussels during a video conference between EU foreign ministers and US negotiators. The head of EU diplomacy, Kaja Kallas, confirmed there was a problem but did not mention a cyber attack. At the same time, the video meeting between EU foreign ministers and his Ukrainian counterpart Andrei Sibiga, who was also present in Berlin, took place without technical problems.
Currently, the exact cause of the incident at the Bundestag data center is still being determined.
