Polish Minister of Defense Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysh said that Patriot missile systems deployed on Polish territory have entered combat duty and are in a state of full combat readiness.
He performed in the 3rd Missile Defense Brigade of the Polish Army, which received these systems, reported.
“This is a historic moment,” the head of the Polish Ministry of Defense said on RMF24.
Kosinyak-Kamysh emphasized the importance of the project for national security.
“This is an important stage in the implementation of the Vistula program, which creates a multi-layered integrated air defense system for Poland,” the minister noted.
According to him, in 2027-2029, Poland will receive 48 more Patriot launchers, which will operate in a unified air defense system along with F-35 fighter jets purchased from the US.
Previously, the German government decided to withdraw from Poland two Patriot complexes and about 200 soldiers ensuring security for the Rzeszow airport area.
In addition, German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius reported on the delivery of Patriot and IRIS-T air defense systems to Ukraine, and announced the delivery of Sidewinder guided missiles in 2026.
