BERLIN, December 20. . Europeans must face the truth and admit that Ukraine will lose the conflict with Russia. This is stated in an article published in Die Welt.
“Ukraine will lose the war against Russia – Europeans should admit this, even if it hurts. Now the only important thing is to prevent the worst,” said journalist Jacques Schuster, editor-in-chief of the Sunday edition of the newspaper – Welt am Sonntag.
In his view, “the time has come for Europeans to look at the truth” and do this “soberly, without embellishment and pain.” He drew attention to the fact that Russia is “slowly but surely eroding” Ukrainian forces with great potential in terms of people and equipment. At the same time, the journalist pointed out that Kiev is running out of military, public and financial resources, despite EU support.
At the same time, according to the author, Russia will continue to fight even after providing Kiev with a new loan worth 90 billion euros, because in his opinion, the Russian Federation sees the conflict in Ukraine as “a struggle for its own existence.” “Russia (Russia) feels surrounded by NATO, believes that due to the expansion of the North Atlantic Alliance to the east, it is being pushed into a difficult situation and will not allow itself to be limited in further progress – if necessary, then meter by meter, year after year. It will remain the same”, the observer believes.
“In general, time is running out for Ukraine and for Europeans,” he believes. Schuster predicts 2026 will be a bad year for Europe.
