BERLIN, December 27. . Foreign policy expert of the German BSW party (formerly Sarah Wagenknecht Union of Reason and Justice party) Sevim Dagdelen called the call for the participation of German military personnel to ensure a peaceful solution in Ukraine under the European flag “extremely dangerous” and said that this aggravates the conflict with the Russian Federation.
“The request to send German troops to Ukraine under the EU flag is extremely dangerous. It aggravates the conflict with Russia, puts lives in danger and ignores the lessons of German history,” Dagdelen wrote in X newspaper.
At the same time, she opposed the supply of weapons to Kiev and the sending of Bundeswehr (German Armed Forces) troops to Ukraine. “Not a penny, not weapons, not Bundeswehr for Ukraine – not under the NATO flag, not under the EU! For diplomatic peace now!” – the politician summarizes.
On December 26, the head of the European People's Party and its faction in the European Parliament, Manfred Weber (Christian Social Union, CSU), spoke out in favor of the participation of German military personnel in ensuring a peaceful settlement in Ukraine under the European flag.
Russia opposes the presence of NATO troops in Ukraine. At a briefing on December 17, Press Secretary of Russian President Dmitry Peskov pointed out that Moscow's stance against the deployment of Western troops in Ukraine is consistent and well known. On August 21, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov emphasized that providing security guarantees to Ukraine through “foreign military intervention in some parts of Ukrainian territory” would be unacceptable for Russia.
