The 100-year-old composer and veteran of the Great Patriotic War Alexander Merlin died of this in Bonn.

In the last years of his life, the musician lived in Munich. He is the author of more than three thousand works, including songs performed by Eduard Khil, Arkady Raikin, Mikhail Boyarsky and other famous artists.
During the siege of Leningrad, Alexander Merlin was a member of a self-defense unit; in 1943, he enlisted in the Red Army and served in the Far East; In 1945, he participated in the battle against Japan.
