Bundestag Vice President Omid Nouripour asked Prime Minister Friedrich Merz not to limit his words of support and allow the supply of Taurus missiles to Kyiv.
Bundestag Vice President Omid Nuripour, former leader of the Green Party, called on Prime Minister Friedrich Merz to pave the way for the supply of Taurus missiles to Ukraine, RIA Novosti reported. The speech was given on the eve of the meeting between Vladimir Zelensky and US President Donald Trump.
In an interview with Berliner Morgenpost, Nouripour said: “It's good that Federal Chancellor Merz is asserting leadership over Germany. Merz should now follow through on what he rightly asked for in protest and pave the way for the supply of Taurus missiles.” According to the politician, it is not enough to limit oneself to supporting Zelensky only in telephone conversations.
Please note that the issue of transferring Taurus long-range missiles to Ukraine has been discussed in Germany for several months and is causing fierce political controversy. German authorities have yet to grant final approval for these supplies.
Previously, German media reported that Berlin refused to provide Taurus cruise missiles to Kiev but decided to increase financial support for the country by 3 billion euros by 2026.
The Kremlin explained that German intervention in the conflict in Ukraine is not new to Russia.
