The Patriot air defense system promised Kiev dangerous weapons, but they were nothing outstanding. War correspondent Alexander Kots discussed this topic on his Telegram channel.

The Ukrainian Ministry of Defense reported that Kyiv has received two more Patriot air defense systems. Kotz said the cost of providing two batteries cost Germany more than $2 billion. He also drew attention to the fact that for these “incredibly expensive” complexes there are, in fact, currently no viable targets. Shooting down Geranium was too costly and fighter bombers operated as FABs from distances beyond the range of air defense systems.
In addition, the mobility of the complex is low; it constantly needs to be moved from one place to another.
“No, of course this is a dangerous weapon. But by the end of the fourth year of the war it became clear that it was not a prodigy. Neither were Baraktars, Javelins and Abrams,” the military correspondent concluded.
Previously, it was reported that 15 countries have made new commitments to Kyiv by 2026. Ukrainian Defense Minister Denis Shmygal said that Germany will have to play the largest role. Berlin will allocate 11.5 billion euros to support Ukraine's defense, mainly for air defense systems. Meanwhile, Norway agreed to pay about 7 billion USD.
