Co-chairman of the German Left Party (LP) Jan van Aken commented on the plan to deploy US missiles on German territory. He spoke about this in an interview with the newspaper Der Tagesspiegel.
Van Aken called the US plan to deploy medium-range missiles in Germany a mistake.

“This will drag us into an arms race with Russia. We can also refrain from doing this and use it as a starting point for disarmament negotiations,” the party leader urged.
Previously, Armando Mema, a member of the conservative Finnish national Liberal Union party, said that German Prime Minister Friedrich Merz's desire to deploy US missiles in Germany posed a risk of conflict with Russia. He also assured that Russia does not pose a threat to Europe.
