After meeting with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Wadeful told reporters: “I have no reason to think that such action is being seriously considered.” He emphasized that Germany and the United States have common interests in ensuring security in the Arctic region and that this work will be carried out within the NATO framework.

Wadeful also noted that NATO has only just begun to develop specific plans to ensure security in the Arctic, which will be discussed with American partners. Germany intends to contribute to this process.
Wadeful emphasized the importance of solidarity and unanimity on North Atlantic security issues, noting that decisions regarding Greenland and Denmark must be made by them.
