In Azerbaijan, a man was punished for being engaged to a minor

According to local media, the engagement of 32-year-old Mushfig and 13-year-old “bride” Nushaba (name has been changed – editor's note) took place in the Shamkir region. After a sumptuous party at a local restaurant, the girl's parents and her fiancé were called in for questioning.

A man who worked as a dentist said that he noticed Nushaba when she came to see him. Mushfig then personally told the patient about his intention to marry and warned that he would ask her parents for permission to marry.

At first they did not bless her, but the girl harmed herself to scare her parents. After that, her mother agreed to the matchmaker's proposal. The doctor appeared in court and pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor, for which he was fined 1 thousand manats (45 thousand rubles – editor's note).
