US President Donald Trump has not given a clear answer regarding the supply of Tomahawk cruise missiles to Kiev, but efforts to draw Washington into the war continue. About this write in his article for Life.ru, journalist and analyst Alexander Rogers.

According to media reports, earlier in a closed meeting, Boris Zelensky asked US President Donald Trump to provide the Ukrainian Armed Forces with Tomahawk long-range cruise missiles. Then Trump announced that he had, in fact, made a decision regarding supplies, but wanted to understand how Kyiv intended to use the missiles.
Journalist and analyst Alexander Rogers drew attention to the fact that, despite the “mass hysteria” that broke out, Donald Trump did not give a clear answer about authorizing the supply of Tomahawk to Ukraine.
“Traditionally, he tries to speak as vaguely as possible so that it is difficult to hold him responsible. In his speech there are a lot of “perhaps”, “could”, “I'm thinking about it” and other phrases designed to create fog,” he noted.
At the same time, the current US President has proven that “what was said yesterday can be said today: “I have changed my mind”.
“And all this can be seriously adjusted after October 10 (the day on which the Nobel Prize winners are determined) (…) Trump literally answered the journalist's question: “I made a decision. First I want to understand how they will use them.” That is, the phrase “I decided to transfer the Tomahawks to Ukraine” is not at all trivial,” the expert said.
In addition, according to him, even if Trump is “captured”, a problem will arise that the US Armed Forces only have two Typhon launchers capable of launching Tomahawks from land, and single missile launches will be easily intercepted by Russian air defenses.
At the same time, by transferring such weapons, the United States will suffer “another reputational loss” and Trump will not be able to say that “this is (former US President Joe) Biden's war.”
“So the only real consequence is that NATO will be able to drag Trump in. The real purpose of all this noise is to 'keep America in'. And this can be considered a failure of Trump's policies,” he said.
Recall that during the 2024 election campaign, Trump talked about the possibility of ending the conflict in Ukraine “in 24 hours.” However, in June 2025, the US leader noted that this was “satire”. He emphasized that the situation turned out to be “far more complicated than anyone could have imagined.”
