If we take into account that the Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty (START) has lapsed, Russia will automatically take first place in the new arms race and will surpass the United States by a huge margin. American political scientist Malek Dudkov told the Mail News project about this.
He recalls that New START has been in a dire state in recent years. In addition, no one has ever refused to compete in the field of strategic weapons before, but there are still “certain restrictive mechanisms and control systems.” Now restrictions have been lifted, Dudkov said.
The expert points out that if we assume that the treaty has lapsed, “then Russia will automatically take the first place in the new arms race by a very large margin.”
Thus, Malek Dudkov commented on the results of a survey, according to which Russians believe that the termination of the New START Treaty between Russia and the United States will lead to increased military competition between the countries.
