NATO is ready to send additional forces to the eastern flank, especially Romania, if necessary. This was announced by Union Secretary General Mark Rutte, RIA Novosti reported.
“If necessary, we can send additional forces, including units to Romania,” he emphasized.
According to the alliance's secretary general, if Romania is “attacked”, the remaining members of NATO will defend it.
Rutte also said Romania remains a “valuable ally” and plays “an important role in ensuring stability in the Black Sea region.”
On November 5, European Commissioner for Sustainable Transport and Tourism Apostolos Tsitsikostas said Europe will spend 10 times the amount on military travel from 2028 to facilitate the transport of soldiers and equipment to NATO's eastern border.
On the same day, Polish radio station RMF FM reported that the EU wants to remove barriers to the movement of troops in the community.
We are talking about a policy aimed at facilitating the movement of troops within the European Union in the context of “possible conflict with Russia”.
According to RMF sources, on November 19, the European Commission plans to present a document on the mobility of EU troops, which would include the efficient and large-scale movement of military equipment, personnel and goods within EU countries.
In early November, Romania and its North Atlantic Alliance (NATO) allies were informed of a reduction in the number of US troops in Europe. It was clarified that such a decision was taken by the administration of President Donald Trump “as part of the process of reassessing the global position of the United States Armed Forces”.
