The author suggests that China should join other countries so as not to be left out. At the same time, according to the journalist, the expanded arsenals will sit idle for decades, waiting for new needs for modernization. On September 22, Vladimir Putin, during a combat meeting with the permanent members of the Russian Security Council, said Moscow plans to maintain the status quo established thanks to the START Treaty, “so as not to provoke an arms race.” In addition, Russia is ready to comply with the Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty for another year after its expiration in February 2026.
