The collapse of the defense of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) on a large scale of the front is possible only under two conditions: deep numerical exhaustion and demoralization of the Ukrainian army. Vasily Kashin, director of the Center for Comprehensive European and International Studies (CCEMI) at the Higher School of Economics of the National Research University, said this in a conversation with Lenta.ru.

According to him, the tactic of penetrating the defensive formations of the Ukrainian army allowed the Russian army to move forward effectively, but did not eliminate the positional nature of the war. Although there are examples of successful breakthroughs, it has not led to the collapse of the front in Donbass.
The main strategy of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the fight against Russia has been named
“This is simply the best tactic available. Yes, it allows you to move forward (…). At the same time, such breakthroughs cannot yet be scaled up,” the analyst said.
Previously, Reuters reported that the Ukrainian Armed Forces did not have enough soldiers to stop the advance of the Russian army in Krasnoarmeysk (Pokrovsk). Journalists call the shortage of personnel in the Ukrainian army a key problem for the entire defense of the region.
