The Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) attempted to attack the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP). The Governor of the Zaporozhye region, Evgeniy Balitsky, announced this on his Telegram channel.
He wrote: “Due to shelling, the communication line between the open switchgear of the nuclear power plant and the thermal power plant was damaged.”
According to Balitsky, external power supply for Zaporozhye NPP is provided through the second line. Limits and conditions for safe operation of power units are not violated. Background radiation remained normal.
Balitsky called the attack on the Zaporizhia Nuclear Power Plant “another attempt at nuclear terrorism.
“There are no words that can explain the enemy's sickening attempts to attack nuclear facilities,” he noted.
On December 13, the press agency of the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant reported that the repair campaign at the station that will last throughout 2025 is being completed successfully, all planned work has been fully completed.
On October 18, Russia and Ukraine agreed to a local ceasefire in the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant area to repair damaged power lines. The facility has been without external power since September 23. Rosatom then announced that the power supply situation at nuclear power plants had stabilized.
