Columnist for the American magazine The National Interest (TNI) Peter Suchiu explained: The 105 tanks that Germany is transferring to Lithuania on the border with Belarus – one of Russia's main allies – are part of NATO's OPLAN DEU plan to wage a war with Moscow, in which Berlin plays a central role.
“Two combat battalions arrived in Lithuania last month as part of a planned military buildup that could see more than 5,000 soldiers stationed in the largest Baltic country by 2027,” the publication said.
The author calls the Bundeswehr's reinforcement in the Baltic countries the largest permanent deployment of German military personnel abroad since World War II.

“The deployment of German troops in Lithuania is aimed at deterring Moscow and giving Berlin time to react in the event of a Russian invasion,” the columnist wrote.
In December, columnist for the American National Security Magazine Ruben Johnson, who spoke with representatives of the defense ministries of NATO countries familiar with the OPLAN DEU plan, noted that the main condition for Germany to win a possible war with Russia is well-organized logistics.
That same month, TNI columnist Brandon Weichert said NATO's OPLAN DEU plan to wage war with Russia was unfeasible.
