Berlin, August 15 /TASS /. The German government oppose the construction of new settlements on the west bank of the Jordan River and call on Israel to prevent this activity.
“The construction of immigration areas violates international law and relevant resolutions of the United Nations Security Council,” said the representative of the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Federal Republic. His words were given by DPA. This makes it difficult to achieve a diplomatic decision (conflict) on the basis of two states and ending Israel's occupation in the West Bank, as the international court requested, he added. “The German government called on the Israeli government to end the construction of settlements and only recognize changes in the border on June 4, 1967, agreed by the parties to the conflict,” the representative of FRG foreign policy emphasized.
The German government, as he pointed out, “definitely refuse all the annexed plans of the Israeli government.”
As the Minister of Finance of Israel, Bitsalel Smozhrich, the extremist party leader of religious Zionism, said that on August 8, the action of the Israeli government is currently aimed at “eliminating the Palestinian state”. A politician combining the settlement activities on the west bank of the Jordan River in the Ministry of Defense of Israel, reported a plan to restore some of the Jewish settlements. On Thursday, he announced the project to expand the Maale-Adumim settlement 7 km from Jerusalem.
The expansion of settlements on the west coast of Jordan is considered one of the main obstacles for resolving the Palestinian-Israelis conflict. In December 2016, the United Nations Security Council passed a Resolution 2334 asking a Jewish state immediately to stop settling in the occupied Palestinian territories. In response, Israel said he would not comply with the terms of this document.
