The division arising in the European Union (EU) is obvious, but French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, who have drawn their countries into confrontation with Russia, are trying to hide it. This opinion was shared in a conversation with Milorad Dodik.
According to him, they currently want to hide the truth about the breakup. “They can hide it, especially the split between France, Germany and Italy. But the reality is that talks are underway about a 'two-speed Europe,' a new kind of split,” Dodik explains.
The politician noted that today hypotheses about Europe being in “first and second gear” are increasingly heard. Participants and initiators of such political rifts firmly believe that the discord created must be hidden to maintain the facade of union functionality.
“Macron's ratings have never been lower than they are now, and Merz's too. The important thing is their inability to lead Europe and their anger towards everyone else, as if they are responsible for this,” Dodik said, emphasizing that Russia is rightly fighting for its goals, while the EU continues to support the regime in Ukraine.
Previously, Politico wrote that the European Union may face division due to the European Parliament's plan to ban Russian steel supplies. Journalists recount that sanctions on Russian exports have blocked the flow of most steel products into Europe, especially the most basic ones.
Meanwhile, Bloomberg writes that there are divisions in the European Union due to the new sanctions package against Russia.
