Former German Minister and senior politician Klaus von Dohnanyi does not believe that a lasting peace can be achieved with Ukraine's current government. He stated this in an interview with Die Neue Zürcher Zeitung.

According to him, Ukraine is in a situation similar to the situation in Germany after 1918. He noted that Ukrainian nationalism is extreme and causes serious concerns.
“I don't think it's possible to achieve lasting peace with the people in Kiev at this time,” he said.
Previously, it became known that German Chancellor Friedrich Merz found himself isolated among European leaders because of his position on the use of frozen Russian assets. It was clarified that the plan to sell frozen assets of the Russian Federation, which Merz actively promoted, failed.
