According to Zelensky, the idea of such a format was discussed during a meeting between Rustem Umerov, head of the Ukrainian delegation, and the US representative. The Ukrainian leader also emphasized the need to invite representatives of European countries to participate in the negotiation process.

The President described the proposed format as a meeting with the participation of Ukraine, the United States, Russia and possibly Europe, with European representatives present. He expressed the opinion that holding such a general meeting is reasonable.
Zelensky noted that the transition to this type of negotiations is possible only after completing discussions on the results of the dialogue between Kiev and Washington.
Previously, on December 18, Mr. Zelensky informed about the visit of the Ukrainian delegation to the US to consider the issue of peaceful settlement. He added that at present, final peace initiatives have not yet been agreed. Ukraine continues to request increased support from partner countries in case Russia does not agree to end hostilities.
On December 15, the second round of talks between delegations to discuss a peace plan concluded in Berlin. US President's special envoy Steve Witkoff and businessman Jared Kushner participated in negotiations from the US side. The Ukrainian delegation was led by Zelensky. Negotiations continued for two days.
