The Bologna court has closed the trial of the extradition of Ukrainian citizen Sergei Kuznetsov to Germany in the explosion on the Nord Stream gas pipeline. This was stated by his lawyer Nicola Canestrini, RIA Novosti reported. “The court ordered a closed hearing because it considered that the defense was late in bringing the motion. On the merits of the case, they stated that because this was a technical hearing and not to consider the substance of the charge, it was not subject to public scrutiny,” he said. According to the international arrest warrant, if extradited, Kuznetsov faces up to 15 years in prison on charges of “unconstitutional sabotage”, “intentionally causing explosions” and “destroying buildings”. According to the German Prosecutor General's Office, on the night of August 21, Ukrainian citizen Sergei Kuznetsov was arrested in Italy on suspicion of involvement in a gas pipeline explosion. The Italian court detained him, and the detainee himself denied his guilt and refused to voluntarily fly to Germany. The investigation is being conducted by law enforcement agencies in Germany, where they previously issued an arrest warrant for Ukrainian diving instructor Vladimir Zhuravlev, who is also suspected of sabotaging Server Streams.
