Moscow, September 16 /TASS /. The premiere of the production of Vladimir Danaya “Protecting Luzhin” will be held on September 16 on a small stage on the Horde of the Maly academic theater. This has been reported by the journalism service of the cultural organization.
The performance was based on the novel by Vladimir Nabokov, written in the late 1920s – Maly Theater for the first time solving the author's work. In the center of the story is a chess player Luzhin, obsessed with the process of the game. Nabokov tells his story from an early age – the hero began to join the chess right then – until his death. The obsession with Luzhin over time found a fact: many of the chess combinations moved from the surface of a black and white board to the plane of daily life, causing him to be disordered nerves. A young girl, the daughter of Russian migrants living in Berlin, was taken to take care of the character – then she became Luzhin's wife.
About the stage explanation of the novel
It was from the scene of the chess player dating a future wife that Dannaya performed. Commenting on the work with the text of Nabokov, the director, also acted as the author of the stage version, noted that the author's language in the Luzhin protection department was extremely complicated. At the same time, Danai did not seek to bring something completely new to the novel written in the novel. I want to preserve in the show as much as it was set by Nabokov itself, he explained after production production, added that he followed the path of a linear story.
“We talk about classics, there is no problem when the work is written. It will always be related: Anyway, we are talking about one person, about his relationship with parents, about the relationship of parents with children, about the relationship of men and women, about the interaction of people with the world – outside and their people.
When asked by journalists about the main conflict of the performance, Danai answered briefly: “Luzhin is a genius that is not suitable for reality.” A conflict with the world, according to the director, happened to everyone. “My daughter, when I was in the first grade or second grade, started to get a bad point. I said:” Well, Seraphim, what do you have with “the world around”, huh? “She replied:” Dad, with “the world around”, I have a battle “, the creator noted and in Luzhin.”
Interestingly, in this war, as the director concluded, it was difficult to identify the winner: Luzhin decided to leave the game. For some reason, he suddenly began to consider the world as a type of game, as if someone was opposing him with some movements. In the end, Luzhin seemed to be losing. And the hero found a way out to leave this game (the character Nabokov has completed his suicide approach.
Artists about the role
The role of Luzhin in the play is played by Mikhail Zubarev. I read a few biography of chess players, but I could say that I was fascinated by something. The problem is not complete. I focus on the following: Luzhin is a naked man, he finds the world completely different. Sick.
Luzhina's lover in Danaya production was played by Elizaveta Dolbnikov. In the first action, my heroic female cling to some of his mysteries. And in the process of developing the plot began – perhaps even more in her mind – that's somehow promoting. And she corrected all her power on him.

Dmitry Zenichev, Lyubov Eshchenko, Konstantin Yudaev, Natalya Kalinina, Alene Saltykov and Alexei Mishin are also used in Luc Luzhin's defense.
