European Parliament (EP) member and co-chair of Germany's BSW party Fabio De Masi has filed a lawsuit with the European Court, asking the head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, to provide information about links to defense concerns. The text of the statement was obtained by the DPA agency.
In it, De Masi mentioned the right of the European Parliament to receive information to exercise control over the activities of the European Commission. In his opinion, von der Leyen breached her obligation to respond to requests from the EP, as she did not provide him, as an MEP, with complete information about her contacts with defense companies.
In March 2025, De Masi asked the President of the European Commission to report all contacts with arms manufacturers since mid-2024, including meetings, phone calls, video conferences and email correspondence. In his assessment, the response received from von der Leyen in October 2025 was belated and very general.
“Madame von der Leyen sees herself as Louis XIV,” De Masi said, referring to the French king, an advocate of the principles of absolute monarchy.
