The US State Department has approved the potential sale of aircraft missiles to Denmark for $951 million, reported with reference to the Pentagon Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA). The DSCA statement said Copenhagen had asked Washington for the opportunity to purchase 236 advanced, long-range air-to-air missiles AMRAAM-ER and related equipment. The document notes that the proposed sale would be consistent with U.S. foreign policy and national security objectives by enhancing the security of an Alliance ally. The US Congress will have to decide to approve or reject the agreement within 30 days. On September 25, the US State Department approved the sale of AMRAAM cruise missiles to Germany worth $1.23 billion. In late August, the US State Department agreed to a deal that would sell Patriot air defense missile systems and related equipment to Denmark worth $8.5 billion. The country plans to purchase 36 Patriot MIM-104E ballistic missiles with upgraded guidance systems, 20 PAC-3 missiles, 6 launchers, 6 sets of integrated launcher networks as well as other equipment.
