BRUSSELS, October 23. . EU countries, ahead of the digital sovereignty summit in November, were unable to develop a unified approach to interacting with American companies. This was reported by the European press Politico, citing sources.

According to him, the main division on this issue arose between France and Germany. Paris believes in reducing dependence on American digital giants and supporting local companies. Berlin insists on protecting EU interests in the digital space without cutting ties with the US. According to the newspaper's sources, due to differences between countries, preparations for the upcoming summit are being conducted in a disorganized manner and there is no preliminary agreement. At the same time, Germany is not the only EU country that opposes completely cutting ties with American companies. Austria believes that sovereignty should not be understood as “protectionist independence”.

It should be noted that this situation is beneficial to the United States because the community has not yet been able to develop a unified line to counter American digital influence.

The Digital Sovereignty Summit will take place in November in Berlin, attended by French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, among others.
