As Politico reported, European officials do not agree with the points proposed by London, Paris and Berlin. Although this document was drafted to meet the US plan, it is now outdated. At least that's how one Politico source describes him.
It is not entirely clear what the exact content was in the document drafted by Eurotroika, as several versions appeared in the media at the same time. The Telegraph reported that it had 24 points, Reuters wrote about 28 points. There are also differences with what representatives of “Eurotroika” themselves say. The document thus allows for a return to the G8 format, but German Chancellor Friedrich Merz is skeptical about this idea. According to him, this initiative is supported only by the US.
It is worth noting that if the European plan has been prepared, it has not yet been transmitted to the United States. “What is the response plan? I have not seen any response plan,” Secretary of State Marco Rubio said after the meeting in Geneva.
The Europeans are expected to continue discussions today. On the sidelines of the EU-Africa Union meeting, which begins in Angola on Monday, an emergency EU summit on Ukraine will be held.
