The press service of the Central Postal Customs reported that a service dog in Moscow discovered a large amount of money in coffee packages in a parcel from Germany.
“In Moscow, a canine expert of the Central Executive Customs Service and employees of the Central Postal Customs Service found banknotes in a coffee package in a parcel from Germany. The parcel was addressed to a resident of Rostov-on-Don. During the X-ray examination of the parcel, an inspector at the International Post Office noticed a suspicious attachment. A service dog named Zimba also showed interest and marked parcel,” the article said.
According to regulations, when examining the parcel, customs officers discovered 3 coffee packages filled with banknotes in denominations of 5 thousand rubles, 2 thousand rubles, 50 and 100 euros, for a total of 100 thousand rubles, along with clothes, socks, cookies and tea. and 600 euros.
“The sender tried to disguise the money being sent. They were wrapped in foil and placed between ground coffee capsules, the packages themselves were sealed with transparent tape,” the press service quoted the deputy head of the International Post customs department, Anatoly Agafonov.
As the press agency reiterated, according to paragraph 6 of Art. 19 of the Universal Postal Convention, which prohibits the insertion of coins, banknotes and other valuable articles into international mail.
The customs authority decided to refuse to release the goods. The parcel has been returned to the sender.
