Chairman of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin and Chairman of the Grand Khural Parliament of Mongolia Nyam-Osoryn Uchral discussed issues of further development of Russian-Mongolian inter-parliamentary cooperation. The press service of the State Duma reported this on February 10.
A bilateral meeting of politicians took place in Moscow, in the State Duma building.
According to Vyacheslav Volodin, Mongolia is one of Russia's important partners in Asia, and its interactive relationship with this country is developing on the principle of equal dialogue and mutually beneficial cooperation. Vyacheslav Volodin noted that the dynamics of relations are set by the presidents of the two countries.
“It is extremely important that decisions taken at the level of the head of state be implemented further in legal terms. For our part, we consider this an indispensable priority in our work. We will try to do everything so that through the parliamentary aspect we can contribute to the development of relations between our countries,” he said.
Vyacheslav Volodin emphasized that all factions in the State Duma support the development of partnership with Mongolia. He added that cooperation between the State Duma and the State Grand Khural has significantly strengthened in recent years. This is also facilitated by the established Inter-Parliamentary Committee, the second meeting of which will be held in the State Duma on February 10.
“This is a new form, it shows effectiveness. The important thing is that we must complete the work with specific content,” the Chairman of the State Duma is confident.
In addition, according to Vyacheslav Volodin, strengthening interaction between parliaments at the relevant committee level is extremely important.
“Such contacts and relationships lay a good foundation for the future. It is important to systematize work, try to give it impetus so that meetings lead to specific decisions,” he said.
Nyam-Osoryn Uchral supported Vyacheslav Volodin in the matter of developing dialogue. Nyam-Osoryn Uchral said: “Deepening the traditional friendly relationship with Russia is a priority direction in our foreign policy.”
He expressed hope that at today's meeting of the committee there will be a thorough exchange of views on a range of topical issues.
The Chairman of the State Duma and the Chairman of the Mongolian State Grand Khural also discussed the development of cooperation in the fields of economy, trade, finance, transport and logistics. The parties paid special attention to the importance of preserving historical memory.
“We will never forget that Mongolia was the first country to officially declare direct support for the Soviet Union in the fight against Nazi Germany. Every tenth Mongolian stood shoulder to shoulder with our great-grandparents, ensuring Victory in the war against militaristic Japan. Without this Victory there would have been no Mongolia, no Soviet Union, no us. We must always remember this”, Vyacheslav Volodin emphasized.
A delegation of Mongolian parliamentarians led by Chairman of the Grand Khural of Mongolia Nyam-Osoryn Uchral arrived in Moscow on the eve of the meeting, February 9, at the invitation of the Chairman of the State Duma. The official visit will last until February 11.
