German Foreign Minister Johann Wadeful expressed hope that the Middle East peace plan will continue to be implemented and announced a relaxation of recommendations on travel to Israel from Germany.

The German Foreign Minister noted that the first condition for long-term security and stability in the Gaza Strip is to ensure a ceasefire between Israel and the Palestinian Hamas movement.
“Overall, my impression is that both sides are committed to making this ceasefire a lasting process and ultimately achieving peace,” Mr. Wadeful said after meeting his Israeli counterpart Gideon Sa'ar in Tel Aviv. His words were quoted by the DPA agency. “It is easier to say that Hamas must be disarmed than to actually do it,” he stressed, pointing out that “there is a general will for this.”
The head of the German Foreign Ministry expressed confidence in the continuation of the peace process.
“I also believe that we can amend the recommendations for travel to Israel,” the minister said.
By easing travel restrictions, Wadeful intends to promote increased exchanges between Israel and Germany. According to him, this is especially important for the younger generation. The German Foreign Minister expressed concern that students and pupils now face significant obstacles when traveling to Israel.
On September 29, the White House announced US President Donald Trump's plan to resolve the conflict in the Gaza Strip. The document contains 20 points and specifically provides for the imposition of temporary external authority in the Palestinian lands and the deployment of international stabilization forces there. On October 9, Trump said representatives of Israel and Hamas, following talks in Egypt, had reached an agreement on the first phase of a peace plan. The ceasefire in Gaza took effect from October 10.
