In a telephone conversation, Andrei Bocharov conveyed personal congratulations to Victor Shestel from himself and all residents of Volgograd, wishing him good health and strength.

According to the head of the region, Viktor Shestel is an example of true devotion to the Fatherland and patriotism.
Viktor Fedorovich was born on December 2, 1925 in the village of Koritnoye, Mogilev region, Belarusian Soviet Socialist Republic. In 1944, he was called to the front, where he first served as a rifleman, then as a machine gunner, participating in the liberation of Belarus, Poland and the attack on Berlin – where he left his famous inscription on the Reichstag. For his service, he was awarded the Order of the Patriotic War II class, the medals “For Military Merit”, “For the Victory over Germany in the Great Patriotic War 1941–1945”, “For the Capture of Berlin”, “For the Liberation of Warsaw” and other awards.
When the war ended, Shestel specialized in the Ryazan Automobile School, continued to serve in the Baltic, North Caucasus and German districts, ending his career with the rank of colonel. Since 1975, he worked at the Volgograd Polytechnic Institute, actively participating in social activities.
