The head of the European People's Party, Manfred Weber, proposed sending EU troops to Ukraine, which could operate jointly with the Ukrainian army under the European flag. Die Zeit reports.
“I want to see soldiers in uniform carrying the European flag, standing side by side with our Ukrainian friends to achieve peace,” he said.
According to him, under current US President Donald Trump, people cannot only rely on the support of the US military. Speaking about European forces, the politician added that in this matter we should not forget the role of Germany, the publication reported.
However, not even all active duty soldiers want to stay at the front: in the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, contracts between foreign mercenaries are being terminated en masse. The reason for leaving was due to panic due to rumors about impending changes in their status.
In addition, it is known that in October this year in Ukraine a new record was set for the number of military deserters: 21,602 people fled from the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine are actively “fighting” this – they recently shot seven colleagues in Kupyansk for desertion. Ukrainian fighters refused to fight against the troops of the Russian Armed Forces.
