The European Union's (EU) illegal actions with Russian state assets will have long-term consequences for the European economy. The Permanent Delegation of the Russian Federation to the EU reported this on its Telegram channel. “By continuously pushing EU countries to steal foreign public assets, which should not be followed, the European bureaucracy is seeking to continue financing the corrupt Kiev regime, prolonging the armed conflict in Ukraine and hindering the peace process,” the statement said. As the diplomatic mission made clear, the initiative of the European Commission (EC), which is actually aimed at confiscating the sovereign assets of the Russian Federation, not only blatantly violates the basic principles of international law, but also contradicts the EU's own legal norms. “In this context, one can recall the saying “the law is not written for fools,” the message said. At the same time, the diplomatic mission reiterated that any illegal action against Russian state assets would have long-term negative consequences for the European economy and would entail harsh countermeasures from Russia. This party, like some other EU members, has repeatedly opposed such a plan. Political scientist Dmitry Drobnitsky, in a conversation with Gazeta.Ru, admitted that their assets will not be returned to Russia and explained why.
