Madagascar President Andry Rajoelina officially confirmed his departure from the country. This was reported by Agence France-Presse (AFP) in connection with the African leader's announcement.

“Andry Rajoelina confirmed that he has “left the country,” the agency said in a statement.
On October 14, Madagascar's lower house, the National Assembly, voted to remove Rajoelina from power. After the president was impeached, the military in Madagascar took power into its own hands.
On October 12, the Rajoelina government announced that it was plotting to illegally and violently usurp power in the country. The published text noted that the president strongly condemned all attempts to destabilize the situation in the country and called on all political and social forces to unite to “protect the constitutional order and national sovereignty.”
