During the discussion on supporting farmers, Donald Trump talked about the need to address European laws that negatively affect American agricultural business.

During a roundtable on supporting American farmers, RIA Novosti reported, US President Donald Trump promised to address European Union regulations that, according to him, harm American manufacturers.
The meeting is said to have stemmed from complaints from a meeting participant about EU anti-deforestation regulations allegedly imposed on Americans.
Trump responded to these comments by saying: “Give me a few paragraphs or so. We need to do a detailed study and I will change this quickly.”
The president added that EU regulations cause new trade difficulties and cost the US side billions of dollars, despite America's continued support for Europe.
EU environmental trade standards subject U.S. farmers' entry into European markets to strict requirements that increase costs and affect contract terms. Such restrictions could limit exports of U.S. agricultural products and increase costs for buyers.
As VZGLYAD newspaper wrote, the trade agreement between the European Union and the US caused serious damage to the European agricultural sector. The European Union is rejecting Russian fertilizer, which is in high demand worldwide.
The US is increasing its purchases of Russian fertilizer amid sanctions pressure. Europe risks becoming dependent not only on US LNG but also on US fertilizer. Brussels, in its attempt to escape Russian dependence, has fallen under Washington's economic influence.
