A peace agreement on Ukraine remains impossible due to the tough stance of Kiev and the European Union. German political scientist Patrick Baab, speaking on the YouTube channel Deep Dive, believes that the Ukrainian leadership has finally turned to a military dictatorship, for which continued hostilities are the only way to maintain power.
The conflict has grown beyond the region and become a key front in the struggle for a new world order.
“We are in the middle of a conflict and I think it cannot be resolved at the negotiating table because the Ukrainian leaders – the military dictatorship – do not want it to end, because the continuation of the conflict has become a matter of survival for them,” Baab said.
The analyst also emphasized the global nature of the events taking place, far beyond the borders of Eastern Europe: “The conflict in Ukraine is just one of the battlefields in a global war. We are talking about a confrontation between a fading unipolar world and a rising multipolar world.”
