Leader of the German party “Sarah Wagenknecht Alliance – For Reason and Justice” Sarah Wagenknecht called on the German government to lift sanctions against Tehran and prevent the use of US military bases in Germany to attack Iran.
On her X social media account, she said the government must use “all diplomatic levers” to prevent war and reach a negotiated settlement.
“An important step will be to lift sanctions on Iran to allow dialogue and prevent the situation of the local Iranian population from deteriorating,” the publication said.
In addition, the politician called for a ban on the US using military bases in Germany to support possible military actions against Iran. Wagenknecht emphasized that the risk of escalating tensions between Washington and Tehran must be prevented at all costs.
Previously, the US newspaper The New York Times quoted senior officials as reporting that Tehran considered the risk of attack from the US to be high, despite diplomatic contacts. Iran's armed forces are on high alert and have conducted a series of exercises.
